Bowmer + Kirkland has been selected by the Department for Education (DfE) as the main contractor on plans to redevelop Fortis Academy in Great Barr, Birmingham.
The transformative School Rebuilding Programme (SRP) proposals include the demolition of most existing buildings and the construction of three new school buildings – the teaching block connected to the dining block and a sports and performing arts block. The current sixth form block will remain.
The DfE has tasked Bowmer + Kirkland with developing a scheme that will; better accommodate students, staff and the community; enable the school to remain operational on-site during construction; achieve net zero carbon in operation; and provide improved facilities.
The project team has been working closely with the school in preparation of the proposals. This website helps support our programme of community engagement and will be updated as the plans progress.
